You can perform dual channel recording of separate files at lower volume levels to ensure you have backup recordings to use when unexpected loud noises distort the primary recording.

As a USB interface, the unit can be used in a 2-in/2-out configuration as well as an 8-in/4-out audio interface (driver required for windows). A built-in slate mic allows you to make voice memos and the unit's slate tone can be used to confirm specific levels.

The Zoom F8 Control App for iOS
The F8 is the first field recorder to come with wireless Bluetooth control. The Zoom F8 Control App for iOS provides extensive wireless remote control of the F8 from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (5th Gen) using Bluetooth LE protocol. Functions include Record, Play, Stop, Fast-Forward, and Rewind, plus mixer pan and fader level. You can also monitor input levels, current time code, and battery status. With Zoom F8 Control, you can rename files, enter metadata, and set date/time information directly from your iOS device.

Simultaneous Recording
Records up to 10 tracks simultaneously with channels 1-8 and a stereo mix (left and right). Up to eight tracks can be recorded at a sampling rate of 192 kHz

Dual Channel Recording of Separate Files at Lower Levels
Records backup recordings at a lower input level to help prevent unexpected loud noises from distorting the recording

Limiter
Provides 10 dB of headroom with a threshold that can be set by the user

Supports SMPTE Timecode I/O
Uses a high-precision oscillator that enables the generation of accurate time code with a discrepancy of less than 0.2 frames per 24 hours

Outputs
Allows you to send the audio signal to a video camera or other device while simultaneously monitoring

New items: You can return goods you have ordered from us for any reason, at any time within 7 working days of receipt, for a full refund or for an exchange for a different product from our range. The right tool for the right job

I bought the F8 from Pinknoise 2 weeks ago. After a one week long shooting of a short, these are my thoughts:

Positive:
- very small and light
- 8 tracks are more than enough
- Dual-rec option makes life easier, if you work alone as a soundie.
- With the 2.0 firmware update, you can add metadata
- You can name all your tracks (Like Boom1, or the name of the talent)
- Routing options
- Clear pre-amps
- Nice screen, bright, with outdoor mode
- It can compete with a 3x-4x more expensive 633 in certain aspects.

Neutral:
- Buttons, trims are very small. If you got big fingers, it could be a problem
- The 8 AA battery pack...

Negative:
- Build quality is mediocre. After just one week it has scratches, which is ridiculous, since it was in a proper soundbag.
- Imput limiter is digital
- I had some software issue. After take 496, it said "Folder is full", but the SD card had 8.5 Gb space left. I tried to make a new folder, and got an "Error" message. I had to fix it with a laptop, and create a new folder trough Windows.

All in all this is a great device for this price, and since there nothing else like this out there, I recommend it.
